Well what a fantastic year 2008 it was for Budo Kyokushin Karate…
Jan – Feb - April
The World Tournament in Osaka BKKA had 3 fighters and a group of 15 in total experiencing
fantastic sites but most importantly seeing first hand the true spirit of Kyokushin Karate within itshomeland. A continuous increase with more pee-wees, juniors and senior students was great to see coming in the doors early for a strong year ahead.
April - May – June
In the Victorian Titles BKKA had three fighters and they represented the club with distinction on and off the mat. Sempai Pat taking 3rd in Middleweight.
A ‘quick’ trip to Wollongong to fight in the NSW Titles was offered to Shihan Bill and his fighters. The dojo was represented with three fighters again and a fantastic result with Sempai Dane and Sempai Alex fighting for the Heavyweight title and Sempai Pat fighting for the Middleweight Div.
July- Aug – Sept
Again the club endured a tremendous amount of interest within the pee- wee and junior classes. Thanks to Shihan Bill, Sempai Llyod and Sempai Phil continuing to supply possibly the best training/ teaching in Junior karate, by instructing in the true spirit of Kyokushin Karate and keeping its reputation as ‘ The strongest Karate’ in the world. Its not easy for many people ( Mum’s, Dad, students) to understand that as Instructors of Kyokushin we are working hard in keeping the foundation and tradition of this art from Grand Master Sosai Oyama and making sure its passed correctly to the next generation.
A great result in the Aus National Tournament –
Sempai Pat taking 1st Place – Middleweight Men Div
Sempai Dane taking 3rd Place – Middleweight Men Div
Sempai Kat taking 1st Place – Lightweight Women’s Div
Well done to Sempai James for participating in his first Tournament also. These results wouldn’t have been close without the assistance/support of the whole organisation and dojo’s that assisted in the preparation towards all the tournaments.
Oct – Nov – Dec
After a solid year of Tournaments, it was time to spend quality time in preparing the students for their grading. A very promising grading it was all round from pee-wees, juniors and seniors. Certain pee-wees moved to the junior class as was the case for some juniors having the privilege to train in 2009 with the senior class.
To conclude the year a FANTASTIC pee-wee/junior tournament was held and again couldn’t have happened without everyone within the organisation assisting. Shihan and the Instructors were overly impressed with all participants and their families showing great encouragement and spirit.
